The role of the region in sport development - Case study of Liberec region

Title: The role of the region in sport development - Case study of Liberec region Objectives: The main objective of this thesis is set to analyse the role of the region bodies of authority in sport development illustrated by a concrete example of the Liberec region. A partial objective is to describe and analyse tools of the regional sport policy and to analyse regional budget sport financing. Methods: There was used the case study design in the diploma thesis to find out the situation of sport policy in Liberec region. Informations were collected from the documents, which are available in public and from internal documents. For data collection there was also used a method of semi - structured interview. Content analysis of documents and interviews was used for the evaluation. Then the SWOT analysis was worked up. Results: In the thesis, the most important tools of the Liberec region sport policy were described. The regional budget was allocated to sport the most funds in 2008, when the amount exceeds 120 million CZK. This fact was affected by organizing international sport events in the Liberec region. Priorities of EU sport policy and funding for sports

Title: Priorities of EU sport policy and funding for sports Objectives: The main objective is to describe the existing methods and the resulting possibilities for the sport funding EU-level scheme. This will result in presenting a comprehensive and clear picture of all EU funding mechanisms that could be beneficial for sports. The thesis also aims to describe the issue in the context of the EU sport policy priorities development and give an overview of the Council and Commission sport-related policy activities. Methods: In this thesis, a method of analysis of legislative and non- legislative texts was used. Other documents examined were further relevant studies, publications and strategic texts. A method of synthesis was also used when the partial information gathered during the relevant meetings of Council formations, conferences and seminars was formed into a comprehensive text. Results: The result is a text that captures the development of EU sport policy priorities and offers specific recommendations for area of sports that derive from the acquired information and from analysis of EU funding schemes. Title: Systems of Sport Financing from State Finances in the Czech Republic and in Chosen Countries in Europe Author: Mgr. Jan Procházka Abstract: The goal of the research was to analyse different models of sport financing in the Czech Republic and comparable countries in Europe, and based on this analysis, to propose modifications allowing to stabilise and further develop the Czech model. It was a qualitative research. Regarding methods, it was based on literature research, and analysis of scientific literature, official documents and other sources, and the main research with the help of a structured survey. The latest one was complemented with interviews and personal communication. A pre-research, based on another survey, was an intermediate step for fine-tuning the final survey. Notwithstanding huge problems in obtaining data and even with communication with contacted parties, an important set of data was obtained, and that mainly in comparison with former research, which was appreciated during discussions at conferences and by other interested parties. The research was successful in getting structured information from ten European countries. Policy of sport in relation to people with disabilities

The thesis deals primarily with the description, analysis and framing of public policy issues with regard to handicapped athletes. The main aspect of this work is to identify the most problematic areas with which disabled athletes normally meet in reality. The thesis also includes the state of the current sports environment in the Czech Republic. This condition is presented primarily with regard to disabled athletes. It is clear from other research that the position of disabled athletes is currently largely neglected. In the next part of the thesis it is important to find out how disabled athletes are designed in the Czech media. This is followed in the analytical part of the thesis is the analysis of the media situation with access to disabled athletes. The work brings an analysis of newspaper articles between the Olympic Games in 2012 and 2016. By analyzing newspaper articles creates the concept of the most burning problems with which work is finally being done. The key task of the thesis is to provide a holistic view of the overall picture of handicapped athletes in the Czech Republic. Grant sport policy in Prelouc town

Title: The subsidy policy applied by the city of Přelouč in sport Objectives: The main objective of this thesis is to describe the policy of the city of Přelouč in the support of sport, sports funding at the local level with the description of individual funding opportunity, building sports infrastructure in the long run focusing on receiving grants for sport. Methods: In this diploma thesis the method of mixed research is used consisting of work with documents related to grants provided to selected sports facilities in the city. Further personal or written interviews and questioning with representatives of the city of Přelouč and villages in the district of the city and with sports facilities managers. Results: The result of the thesis is a text that contains information about the support given by the city into the sports infrastructure, description of the areas of financing with an emphasis on subsidies. The city of Přelouč fixed the sport as one if its policy priority and within the budget allocates to sport around 1%. Over the last ten years, the city of Přelouč realized with the help of state and Europe grants three large projects for the expansion of the sports infrastructure. Comparison of sport clubs in Radotin and Zbraslav

Title: Comparison of sport clubs in Radotin and Zbraslav Targets: This thesis aims at producing an overview of the sport associations in Prague's district no. 16, namely in Radotin and Zbraslav. The thesis is to compare the differences in ensuring and carrying on sports activities within the association sphere in the given areas. Methods: For the purposes of the thesis the following methods have been used, namely a structured nonstandard interview, descriptive analysis and comparison. Results: It follows from the thesis that the associations based in Radotin do, indeed, function better that those situated in Zbraslav. That is especially true as regards their price policy, financing by way of subsidies, coaching stuff, organising of sports events as well as the cooperation with the public. On the contrary, Zbraslav associations have developed better cooperation with schools. Sport clubs in Zbraslav are more focused only on children and youth. In contrast, the Radotín sports clubs are trying to involve in its work all ages. The EU Sport Policy (implication on the Czech Republic)

This thesis analyzes EU Sport Policy and implicates this policy in some aspects on the Czech Republic. Thesis is divided into three main parts -- in the first part there are described theoretical approaches to the sport and the relationship between sport and public diplomacy. In the second part there is an analysis of the EU Sport Policy itself -- its development, the most important documents connected with sport, with an overlap into future. The third, practical, part describes development and specificity of Czech sport, analyzes the problem of financing in Czech sport and shows the connection of european and Czech dimension in sport. The third part also discusses, how could possibly the EU Sport Policy help to the Czech Sport Policy, or how could the Czech traditional sport background help the EU Sport Policy.
